L-R: JOED Executive Committee members: Past Chair Jeffery T. Clark, Treasurer Terri Ashby, Vice Chair Scott Riggs, Chair Melissa Anderson, Executive Director Mark Sutherland, and Sam Shumate

As a regional outreach director for US Senator Ted Budd’s office, Sam Shumate works primarily in rural communities – including Onslow– and serves as the information conduit between the 20+ counties he serves and Senator Budd’s office. Sam is skilled in identifying community needs and brings resources to navigate federal grant opportunities.

He met recently with JOED and ONWASA in Holly Ridge to discuss rapid growth in the town and to tour Camp Davis Industrial Park Phase III. They discussed federal grants that can be deployed to assist with new water infrastructure.
