Last Friday was a beautiful day for a Groundbreaking ceremony at Camp Davis Industrial Park Phase II in Holly Ridge!

JOED Vice Chairman Matt Ray, serving as the Master of Ceremonies, began by thanking CDIP owner Tom Rollins for his vision and 10-year commitment necessary to see today’s event become a reality. In 2015, Mr. Rollins partnered with Duke Energy in a certified site program to create an Industrial Park with regional and national marketability.Since becoming owners of Phase II, the Town of Holly Ridge has been the recipient of a $200K grant from the Golden Leaf Foundation for grading; $200K from the NC Department of Commerce for the demolition of the old World War II runways; and $650K from the NC Industrial Development Fund for the construction of roads, water and sewer systems.Vice-Chair Ray thanked today’s attendees and acknowledged elected officials from Holly Ridge and other area communities, as well as representatives from the offices of US Senators Richard Burr and Thom Tillis.Mayor Jeff Wenzel noted the leap of faith the Town Council made in purchasing CDIP Phase II, an act that will allow the Town to grow and reap financial benefits for years to come. As of today, six of the eight new lots are already under contract! He is looking forward to the addition of good paying jobs (projected to be around 245) that will give Holly Ridge residents the opportunity to live AND work in their town.Military and Federal Construction CEO Melissa Anderson thanked the Town Council for awarding her company the $1.96M contract. You will note the equipment on site—used as a backdrop for great photos, but also making the statement that they are “ready to get to work”.Fun note: It’s International Women’s Month and five of our favorite women, all pivotal to making the groundbreaking happen, are sporting hard hats in the photo above.
Matt also noted that:
“These jobs will generate nearly $11M in new payroll. Of that, a little over half will result in locally disposable income. So, nearly $6M of that payroll will be spent every year in our local restaurants, car dealerships, hardware stores…..and with our homebuilders and realtors, lawyers, accountants, barbers and every other local business. “
“The forecasted $25M of new ad Valorum tax base means additional revenue, in todays dollars, for the Town to the tune of about $100K annually….forever….and about $175K to the county every year….forever.”
